Scotland Road Trip Itinerary – Day 3 – Part 3 of 8

Scotland Road Trip Itinerary Day 3

Dunrobin Castle

The approach to Dunrobin is like you could imagine from the pictures a long straight drive where you can see the castle off in the distance. Once you get to the close parking lot you can see the real size of the castle and the beauty of the architecture. This castle is what you imagine when thinking of a castle more like a castle from the movies or a fairytale!
Once you park you enter the castle from the front to pay admission. You can walk out to the left and get the panoramic view in the other picture below. This overlooks the garden area and where the falconry show is held.

Then you walk down into the gardens for spectacular views back up at the castle.

The inside of the castle is really impressive. You cannot tour the entire thing since the Duke still resides in the castle. I was amazed at the fresh flowers in almost every room and not just a small bouquet but a really nice arrangement! Here are a few shots from within the castle. Most of the castles we visited did not allow photographs or video of the insides.

One of my FAVORITE rooms was the library!

I think this castle is worth the visit if you are up in the highlands. It is a really impressive estate with those fairytale looks and panoramic views. The drive from Inverness to Dunrobin is not too bad as you can see from the timelapse below which is missing a section thanks to running out of space and not realizing it. 🙁 It will also take you by Tain Pottery which is in the next section.
