I switched to “horizon” mode for a little bit trying to get a feel for it. I did do a couple flips just to give it a try and see what it looks like. I switched to “Acro” mode at the end for a brief few minutes but it was an epic fail so I went back to “Level” mode to finish out the battery. I am still trying to get the hang of flying… It seems slow going. Hopefully, I will be able to get more control with the ability to follow a path or intentionally go around an object. I am still trying to use the simulator to get a feel for how the drone responds to certain input and how to go around / through obstacles. I think I will be trying to find a local race so I can just go and observe to try and learn.
The more I watch youtube and others fly the more I realize how much of a beginner I am. I remember Pat telling me he was so happy when he went out and flew just in circles. I now know exactly what he means. I have yet to be able to fly in a circle without losing my orientation and then feeling panic set in… it seems like when I touch the yaw stick it does not take long to lose my orientation. I HOPE that this is not the case when I get goggles and start flying FPV. I am sure ready to head that direction I am still a little nervous about FPV goggles….
Well until next time… I hope you always return from “The Dot of Despair!”
